Redeemed and Summoned

“But now, this is what the LORD says—He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel; ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’” Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)

There is security in knowing God has a claim on us. We are not wandering souls lost in a big bad world. No, we have been redeemed from the god of this age. We are overcomers, more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Because of His grace and mercy, we have been summoned out of the carnality of this world and into the royal courts of the King. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we were given everything we needed so that we might truly live—not in anger or fear but in the love of Christ Jesus. His Spirit enables us to “trust in the LORD and do good, dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” (Ps. 37:3) We were created, we were formed for this divine destiny. We never have to doubt it. It is written about us in the Bible: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10) We’ve been redeemed; we’ve been summoned; we are God’s children. This is our security. This is our heritage. This is our destiny.
