Faithful, Abundant, and True: Going Deeper Still

The first two weeks of our Bible study, Faithful, Abundant, and True, have been great! Kay Arthur's method of studying the Bible really helps you dig into God's Word. You can't help but learn! Here's something from the second week's homework:

Heb. 6:9-12 (NASB)
“But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

“Be faithful and patient and you will inherit the promises of God. What have you been asking God for? Examine it. Is it in accordance with the character of God, the will of God, the Word of God? If it’s biblically okay, then discuss it with Him in prayer. Stay in communication with Him as it comes to your mind and heart....See what God does, what He says, how He leads....if it is for your good and His glory, you will get it. That is His promise. (Kay Arthur, FAITHFUL, ABUNDANT, AND TRUE Bible Study, pgs. 35-36)

I was interested in learning more about what God's Word had to say about prayer. There are many verses, but I wanted to meditate on these because they all contain the word "ask":

“Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.” Matt. 7:7 (Amplified)

“…the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, "Ask what you wish me to give you." (1 Kings 3:5) (NASB)

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) (NASB)

“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13) (NASB)

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” (John 15:7-8) (NASB)

“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.” (John 15:16) (NASB)
